Wedding Photography Tips

Choosing your wedding photographer tips...

Style of Photography

Wedding photography generally breaks down to three types, traditional or classic and photo journalistic.

A traditional photographer provides a lot of posed pictures.  There's a lot of time spent on getting people and details to look just right.  This person tends to be be more involved with the wedding the day of.  Classic tends to be a balance between traditional and photo journalistic.  Photo journalistic isis is a very hands off approach, documenting the day as it unfolds.  You should decide on the style of photography you are looking for before meeting with photographers so you are meeting with the right photographer.

Budget

Have a general idea of your budget.

Pricing can be a very wide range.  You most likely won't want to meet with someone that is completely out of your price range.  On the flip side, if the price is too good to be true, it is most likely someone who is not a real professional and you could be taking a risk.

Relationship with your photographer

This is probably one of my biggest points I would stress!  Your photographer is someone you want as guest at your wedding.  Remember, you are spending more time with your photographer than you are anyone else, it's crucial that you "like and enjoy" your photographer.

Hire a professional

Photographers that are just weekend shooters may not be "professional".  You'll want someone that has a legit business, pays taxes, has insurance etc.  The digital world is consistently changing, and you will want to hire someone that is vested in keeping up with the times.

Jpeg or RAW?

You want a photographer that shoots in RAW format, it ables you to receive the best quality images.  Confirm if you are receiving the digital files that they are not watermarked.  Confirm what resolution they are.  A lot of photographers will only release low resolution files so that they are still making money of of your re-orders.

Alyssa and Collin Engagement Session by Creative Captures

Last week Thursday I had the pleasure of doing an engagement session with Alyssa and Collin.  I arrived to the Boerner Botanical Gardens in Hales Corners and to my surprise I remembered where all the "good" photo spots were from last year.  The gardens are such a beautiful place to take pictures and the fee is minimal!!  I greeted Alyssa and Collin and they seemed a bit nervous at first but once they got comfortable in each other's arms, they were very natural in front of the camera.  When I am out with my clients I like to give them some alone time which gives me the ability to capture some great spontaneous moments with a couple.  I have included a couple in this post.  One of my favorites is Alyssa cracking up at Collin as he dances for her!  Enjoy this sneak peek and congratulations again Alyssa and Collin.
